Marina Bartoli Compostella was born in Mantua and grew up in Imperia. After her Piano studies and a degree in Opera singing at the “C.Pollini” Conservatory in Padua, she continued her musical training at the “Schola Cantorum” in Basel and at the "Hochschule für Musik und Theater” of Zürich. Later, she participated in a Masterclass with Mariella Devia in Verona, and had private coachings with Barbara Bonney in Salzburg. She also graduated from the University of Padua obtaining full marks in Modern Literature with a dissertation in music history.
She has performed in many concerts throughout Europe as well as in Japan, Israel and Canada, and has played leading roles in several Baroque operas in prestigious theaters including “Caio Melisso” of Spoleto, “Opéra” of Nice, “Rokokotheater” of Schwetzingen, “Teatro Olimpico” of Vicenza, “Grand Théatre” of Luxembourg. She has sung under the baton of several renowned conductors (Gustav Leonhardt, Philippe Herreweghe, Claudio Scimone, Alan Curtis, Bob Van Asperen, Mario Brunello, Thomas Hengelbrock, Ingo Metzmacher, Stefano Montanari), and has collaborated with various period-instrument ensembles and orchestras (La Risonanza, Accademia Bizantina, La Venexiana, L’Arte dell’Arco, Il Complesso Barocco, I Virtuosi delle Muse).
She has recorded for the Glossa, Dynamic, Warner Chappell Music, Brilliant and Cpo labels.
