Theme 2020: Johann Sebastian Bach
The Austria Baroque Academy 2020 is dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach and his environment.
We focus on his musical background, the flourishing cultural landscapes of Central Germany, influences on his work and his effect on his sons.
In addition to the works of Johann Sebastian Bach we deal with compositions of his family and from his musical homeland, Thuringia and Saxony in the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as North German and the Italian influences on his oeuvre.
Cities such as Leipzig and Dresden, Weimar, Eisenach and Arnstadt, composers such as the Bach sons Wilhelm Friedemann, Carl Philipp Emanuel, Johann Christoph and Johann Christian, but also Johann Pachelbel, George Phillip Telemann, George Frideric Handel, Georg Böhm, Dietrich Buxtehude, Johann Georg Pisendel, Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Kuhnau, Johann Friedrich Fasch and Christoph Graupner are decisive for the musical cosmos of Johann Sebastian Bach.
