No PictureGerd Kenda, born in Klagenfurt, Austria. Studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts (musical education/voice/vocal pedagogics).

1986 concert diploma with honor and Bachelor of Arts, award of honor by the Ministry of Science, Austria. Courses in performing with Josef Mertin, Andrew Parrot and Norman Shetler.

Finalist at international vocal competitions like Bach competition Leipzig, Germany in 1988 and Schubert competition Graz, Austria in 1990.

Performances in opera productions at the festival of modern arts steirischer herbst as well as in the Opera Graz (“Narzissus” by Beat Furrer and “Moses and Aaron” by Arnold Schönberg) and in 2003 ?Begehren? by Beat Furrer at the Ruhrtriennale in Bochum 2005/2006 ?Dafne by Antonio Caldara in Damtschach 2006 ?I hate Mozart? in Vienna (Theater an der Wien) 2008 ?Melancholia by G.F. Haas in Paris (world premiere) and Graz ?Fama by Beat Furrer in Salzburg and Berlin 2009 ?Death in Venice? by Benjamin Britten in Vienna (Theater an der Wien) 2011 ?Macbeth by Sciarrino at the Salzburg festival

Appearances at international festivals such as Salzburg festival, styriarte Graz, Festwochen der Alten Musik Innsbruck, Resonanzen in the Vienna concert hall, spring festival Budapest , Dresdner Musikfestspiele, Donaueschinger Musiktage, musikfestival Luzern, Tage Neuer Musik Zürich and Pfingstfestspiele Salzburg.

Cooperations with ensembles such as ars antiqua austria, cantus graz, Clemencic consort, Vokalensemble NOVA , Wiener Akademie and Klangforum Wien. Baroque concerts with ensembles such as capella Leopoldina Graz, capella Savaria, sol la sol (Howard Armen), baroque orchestra delle friuli , Baroque orchestra Poznan, Mitteleuropäisches Barockorchester (Rovereto,Italien) .2005 Bach cantatas with Gustav Leonhard in Padua, Florence and Rome.

Since 1987 teacher at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (voice and vocal pedagogics) and trainer for elocution at the Graz University. Conductor of the choir chor pro musica graz and artistic director of Chorakademie Kärnten.
